For Faculty: Course Reserve

Course reserve is a library service offered to instructors to provide your students access to materials needed for class. You may place items owned by the library or personal copies of books and media on reserve. You may choose a two hour (Library Use Only), 1 day or 3 day loan period.

The reserve book collection is located at the circulation desk on the first floor of the library. The reserve media collection is located in the Media Center on the lower level of the library, Crown 008)

To place an item on reserve in the Media Center, please complete the online Media Reserve Form.

To place books on reserve for your course, please complete the Instructor Reserve form, print it, sign it and return the form with the items you would like placed on reserve to the circulation desk on the 1st floor of the library.

Please allow 5 business days for items to be available on reserve.  

All items will be removed at the end of the semester.  A new form must be submitted each semester.

Reserve Policy

  1. The reserve system at Dominican Library is intended for the use of students, faculty, and staff of Dominican University.
  2. Materials placed on reserve will be at the initiative of instructors for the educational and non-commercial use of students.
  3. All items being placed on reserve must be submitted to the circulation desk with a completed reserve form.
  4. When placing items on reserve, please keep in mind that the Library cannot provide the following services due to limited resources, staffing, national interlibrary loan codes, or federal copyright laws:
    1. The Library cannot photocopy items (please provide copies).
    2. The Library cannot pull items from the shelves (please bring the materials to the Circulation desk with a reserve form).
    3. The Library cannot place items on reserve which have been obtained through interlibrary loan.
    4. The Library cannot place periodicals or reference books on reserve.
  5. Material on physical reserve will be available at the Circulation Desk.
  6. Users may make a single copy of a reserve item for private study, research, scholarship, or education.
  7. The library reserves the right to refuse to place materials on reserve if it judges that the nature, scope, or extent of the material goes beyond reasonable boundaries of fair use.
