Searching using an Index

An index is the way that a database organizes its content. All resources in the database are associated with specific terms/subjects - and using the correct terms can save you time and get you more accurate search results.

 

In this example below, the Index is called "Subject Terms".  In other databases this is called "Thesaurus", "Subjects", or simply "Index". Regardless of what it is called, the search process is almost identical to that outlined below.  Remember to always speak the "Language of the Conversation".
