Building community is vastly important for all people as it allows us to feel seen, understood, and have support. For marginalized people it is even more crucial for them to have these ties to those who are similar to themselves because it protects them against being politically, economically, culturally, and socially dominated by the majority. There are a wide variety of positives that come from having a community and for disabled people it is crucial for them to have such a space as it allows them to have a level of accessibility, advocacy, and inclusivity at a level they do not regularly get.
