Interlibrary Loan and I-Share at Dominican

This guide provides information on how to request library materials from outside Dominican.

Welcome

This guide is all about Dominican's resource sharing systems: I-Share and Interlibrary Loan (ILL). These systems are designed to make it easier for current Dominican students, staff, and faculty to access information when the Rebecca Crown Library does not have the appropriate resources.

Read more about the systems below, then use the menu on the left to explore how you can access your accounts, locate items eligible for request, and manage requests once they are made. Many questions are answered in the FAQ section, however if there is an answer you are unable to find, a librarian can always help in person, over the phone, on email, and through virtual chat found on the homepage of the website.

What is I-Share? What is ILL?

The I-Share system is made of many academic libraries in Illinois. Items requested using I-Share can be found and managed in your Rebecca Crown Library account.

Items available to request through I-Share:

  • Books not available in the Rebecca Crown Library collection

For articles and books not available through I-Share, users are welcome to use WorldCat and the ILL system. The ILL system is made up of libraries from across the world.

Items available by request through ILL:

  • Books, media, and other materials not owned by the Rebecca Crown Library
  • Books not available from any I-Share library
  • Scans of articles or book chapters from items not owned by the Rebecca Crown Library

Current Dominican students, staff, and faculty can create ILL requests via their own ILL account, accessible through the Rebecca Crown Library website and catalog. Check out the other pages of this LibGuide for more information about the requesting process.
