For Faculty RCL

Faculty, staff and students are automatically granted library borrowing privileges.  

Your Dominican ID is your library card and can be used at Dominican University and other I-Share libraries. 

Visit Campus Safety and Security on the lower level of Lewis Hall if you need to obtain a Dominican ID or if you have lost your ID and need to get a replacement.  A replacement fee will apply—contact Campus Safety and Security with questions at (708) 524-5999

Library materials can be checked out at any of our service desks.

Students may check out books for 4 weeks. Faculty/staff may check out books for sixteen weeks.  

Items may be renewed online or at the circulation desk with a maximum of three renewals.

Periodicals, government documents and special collections are non-circulating.

DVDs are available for check out and are located at the first floor Circulation Desk.  DVDs circulate for one week for faculty and three days for students. DVDs may be renewed once.

As the Rebecca Crown Library is a member of I-Share, you may also access circulating materials from over 130 academic institutions in the state of Illinois.  Our Interlibrary loan department can also acquire materials from other institutions outside of Illinois.

Faculty and current students have access to many online resources from any computer or mobile device with internet access. The majority of the Library's online resources are accessible from off-campus and available 24 hours a day.

Off-campus access to the Library's online resources is provided through OpenAthens, a cloud-based authentication system. If you are off campus, an OpenAthens login screen with two options will appear. Choose the first option (Dominican University Login) and log in with your Network ID and password. (Your Network ID is your full email address and your password is the same as your email password.) OpenAthens will remember your login information and auto-authenticate after the first time you log in.

To determine if the library has access to a particular journal, please perform a Journal Search. Enter the journal title into the main search box to start the search or browse journals by category on the left-hand side.
