When your ILL article is available, you will receive an email notification. You will have access to the article for 30 days or 5 uses, whichever comes first.
There are a few different ways to order ILL articles.
1. Many users use databases to locate articles. By using these databases with access through Dominican, you can find full texts, PDFs, and abstracts. If you are in a database and come across an article that is not supplied in full, there will still be links you can follow to find access to the entire article. One example is the Request through Interlibrary Loan button, as shown here through an EBSCO-powered database:
After clicking that link, the ILL account sign in page will load. After signing in, an ILL request form will pop up that is entirely filled out already. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Submit request.
Here is another example. The user found this article in Gale Research Complete, but only the abstract is available. Locate Find full-text under Library Links:
After selecting Find full-text, a Rebecca Crown Library catalog page will load with the article information. Under the How to get it section, there will be a yellow or white hyperlink to select. If box is yellow, sign into the catalog with your Dominican credentials and the box will turn white. When the box is white, the option to Request item through Interlibrary loan will appear.
After clicking the Request link, you will be taken to sign into your ILL account. After signing in, the request form will appear completely filled out already. Scroll to the bottom of the form and select Submit request.
2. If you cannot locate a specific button to find full texts or a button that links back to a catalog page, there is an option to fill in the request form manually. From your ILL account page, select Create request.
After selecting Create request, the next page has options to choose from: Article, Book, or Media. Select Article.
Use the information found in a database entry such as the title, author, and DOI to fill out the request form. Enter as much information as you possibly can. If you need assistance, reach out to a librarian.
You can use your ILL account to track the status of the materials you order. When an article is available to you, you will receive an email (to your Dominican account) with a link to the article. The article will be available for 30 days or 5 uses, whichever comes first. Rarely, instead of a digital copy with a link, a physical, print copy of the article will be sent to the library. This copy can be picked up at the Circulation Desk of the library with your Dominican ID.
